Canada Start-Up Visa Program

Intake paused: IRCC stopped accepting new Start-Up Visa applications on June 30, 2026. Applications accepted before that date continue to be processed. This page is for understanding program status and existing applications, rather than an invitation to submit a new application now.

What the program involved

The program was intended for entrepreneurs with an innovative business and support from a designated organization. Support from an incubator, angel investor or venture capital organization was not a guarantee of permanent residence.

Existing applicants

Keep your application records, business documents and correspondence organized. Respond to IRCC requests within the stated deadlines. Work-permit eligibility must be assessed separately against the current rules; a pending Start-Up Visa application alone does not establish authorization to work.

Considering business immigration?

We can assess your circumstances and discuss pathways that are available at the time of your enquiry. Program availability, investment requirements and business obligations vary. We do not promise an intake reopening date or an immigration outcome.

Contact our Windsor office for a business immigration assessment.
