Eligibility and ranking are different

Each program has its own work-experience, language and other requirements. Eligible candidates are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System. Invitations depend on the round and its published criteria.

Job offers and CRS points

As of March 25, 2025, job offers no longer earn the former 50 or 200 additional CRS points. Job offers may still be relevant to program eligibility and other requirements.

Skilled occupations

Eligible skilled work experience for the Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Worker Program can include NOC TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 occupations. This covers a range of management, professional, technical and skilled trade roles. Chefs and cooks are among the eligible occupation groups under the Federal Skilled Trades Program, which has its own experience and job-offer or certification requirements. Your actual duties and the relevant program rules matter; a job title alone does not establish eligibility.

Prepare your profile

Review your occupation and duties using the current NOC and TEER classifications. Gather the language, education, work-experience and other evidence required for your situation. Information must remain accurate when your circumstances change.

After an invitation

Submit a complete application within the deadline in your invitation. Processing times vary and approval cannot be guaranteed.
