Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP)

RCIP is a permanent residence pathway connected to designated employers in participating communities. It has its own requirements and should not be described as simply a new name for the former Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot.

Who may qualify?

Applicants need an eligible job offer from a designated employer and must meet the pilot’s language, education, work-experience and other requirements. Qualifying graduates may have a work-experience exemption. Settlement-fund requirements also depend on the applicant’s circumstances.

Community recommendation

The designated employer sends the recommendation application to the community. The community assesses the job offer, its priorities and the applicant’s eligibility. A job offer alone does not guarantee a recommendation or permanent residence.

Applying for permanent residence

After receiving a community recommendation, eligible applicants apply through IRCC’s Permanent Residence Portal. Optional work permits have separate requirements.

How we can help

We can review your job offer, work and education evidence, language results and documents. Check the participating community’s current priorities and designated-employer information before relying on an offer.
