Family Sponsorship: Sponsor Eligibility
Different family categories have different eligibility rules, financial obligations and intake arrangements.
Spouse, partner or dependent child
Review the sponsor’s age, citizenship or permanent resident status, residence and ability to meet the undertaking. Relationship evidence and the sponsored person’s eligibility and admissibility also matter. Read our spouse, partner and child guide.
Parents and grandparents
The Parents and Grandparents Program has separate intake and income rules. Do not submit a new application without the authorization required under the current intake. Check the current sponsorship status or consider the separate Super Visa visiting option.
Other relatives
Sponsorship of other relatives is limited to specific circumstances. A sibling, cousin or other family relationship does not generally create a sponsorship route by itself. Assess the exact category before preparing an application.
